Ear infections are a very common occurrence in children under the age of five. The most common treatment for these is antibiotics or surgery. One reason for ear infections is the anatomy of the estuation tubes in children.
The estuation tubes in children are almost at a 90 degree angle with the pharynx. This makes them more septible for blockage and infections. As we grow, the tubes become elongated and angled. This decreases the blockages and makes it easier for drainage.
It is also believed that when a childe is born the upper part of the neck becomes subluxated due to birth. The nerve interference causes improper function of the mechanics of the ear. With chiropractic adjustments, proper nerve flow can be restored and drainage can occur.
Different studies have been performed on both sides, and there is no evidence that antibiotics are affective in treating ear infections. Research as actually proven that chiropractic adjustments are the most effective and least evasive for ear infections.
Some parents might be apprehensive to having their child adjusted because they see how chiropractors adjust an adult, but adjusting a child is different. Chiropractors do not apply the same type of force or pressure when adjusting a child. Children are so pliable and are so flexible that a chiropractor can just apply a few ounces of pressure to move their little bones back into place.
